How to eliminate the plug problem

In many fields, such as industrial production, construction engineering, domestic water use and so on, pipeline system plays a vital role. The problem of "plug" is one of the most common and troublesome problems in pipeline system. The so-called "plug" refers to the phenomenon that the pipeline is partially or completely blocked due to impurities, scaling, foreign bodies or improper installation. It not only affects the normal operation of the system, but also may cause equipment damage and even safety accidents. Therefore, it is particularly important to eliminate the plug problem in time and effectively.

I. Cause analysis of plug

There are various reasons for the plug problem, mainly including the following aspects:

1. Impurity accumulation: such as sediment and metal chips are carried into the pipeline in the fluid, and are deposited at elbows or valves for a long time to form blockage.
2. Scale or salt deposition: In hot water or fluid system containing minerals, it is easy to form scale or salt deposits on the inner wall of the pipeline.
3. Foreign body blockage: welding slag, plastic bags, cloth strips, etc., which are not cleaned during the construction process, are left in the pipeline.
4. Improper installation: sudden change of pipe diameter, unreasonable slope, dislocation of interface, etc. may cause poor flow and induce blockage.
5. Corrosion and caking: the inner wall of the old pipeline is corroded and peeled off, forming flaky or massive substances and blocking the flow passage.

Second, the plug problem investigation method

In order to effectively eliminate the plug problem, it is first necessary to accurately judge the position and nature of the plug. The common troubleshooting methods include:

1. Pressure test: judging whether there is blockage by detecting the pressure change of each section of the pipeline system.
2. Flow detection: The flow meter is used to measure the fluid throughput. If the flow drops obviously, it may indicate the occurrence of blockage.
3. Endoscopy: use an industrial endoscope to directly observe the blockage inside the pipeline, which is suitable for large-diameter or key pipelines.
4. Ultrasonic detection: Non-destructive detection method, suitable for buried or non-detachable pipeline systems.
5. Listening and locating: Experienced technicians can judge whether the pipeline is blocked or not and its approximate location by tapping the pipeline and listening to the sound changes.

Third, the plug removal method

According to the nature and location of the blockage, different cleaning methods can be adopted:

-Mechanical blockage removal: use tools such as pipe opener, wire brush and pig ball to physically remove the blockage.
-High-pressure water jet: high-pressure water jet is used to scour the inner wall of the pipeline to remove scale and impurities, which is suitable for most blockage situations.
-Chemical cleaning: For soluble blockages such as scale and oil stain, select a suitable chemical cleaning agent to dissolve and remove them.
-Thermal dredging: suitable for grease blockage, which is washed away after being melted by hot water or steam.
-Replace the pipeline: If the blockage is serious and difficult to remove, or the pipeline is seriously aging, partial or whole replacement should be considered.

Fourth, measures to prevent plugging

Nip in the bud is the fundamental way to solve the plug problem. The following measures are suggested to prevent it:

1. Regular maintenance and cleaning: make a regular cleaning plan for the pipeline system to prevent impurities from accumulating for a long time.
2. Installation of filtering device: install a filter or sedimentation tank at the entrance to intercept large particles of impurities.
3. Standardize the construction process: ensure that the pipeline is clean during the construction process and avoid foreign objects from entering.
4. Use anticorrosive materials: choose pipeline materials with good corrosion resistance to prolong service life.
5. Strengthen personnel training: improve the technical level of operators and enhance the ability of problem identification and handling.

The blockage problem is an inevitable challenge in the operation of pipeline system, but as long as we scientifically analyze the causes, reasonably choose the methods of investigation and removal, and take preventive measures, we can effectively ensure the smoothness and safety of pipeline system. No matter in industrial production or daily life, paying attention to the plug problem not only helps to improve efficiency, but also avoids unnecessary economic losses and security risks.
